Captain Aramsham of the Imperial Sardaukar: Captain Aramsham posed as a smuggler to infiltrate the Arrikeen smugglers and ended up with group led by Gurney Hallack. He was captured when the group of smugglers were surprised by a troop of Fremen in the sand near the Cave of Birds. He and two other Sardaukar were all who survived out of the ten in the group. He killed one of the surviving Sardaukar when he attempted to attack Paul Muad'dib. Later, just before the Battle of Arrakeen, the Fremen sent Captain Aramsham to his Emperor with a message from Paul Muad'dib.

Arkie: d. 10,191. An Atrides soldier under Hawat's command who died during the Harkonnen/Sardaukar's prolonged attack against the Atrides. His water was taken by the Fremen, meant as a bond between the Freman and Hawat's men, but the gourp was slaughtered.

Lady Alia Atreides: b. 10,191. Sister of Paul Atreides, daughter of Duke Leto Atreides and the Lady Jessica. She was to be the next step in the Bene Gesserit plan to attain their Kwisatz Haderach, but instead she was the second child born rather than the first. She was conceived on Arrakis and born in the desert in a Fremen sietch after the death of her father. Because her mother took The Water of Life before Alia was born, she was pre-born, awakened to consciousness before birth, endowed with all the knowledge and power of a Bene Gesserit Reverend Mother. The Fremen feared her because of her difference. When she was three years old, the Sardaukar attacked Twenty Thumpers, a sietch in the Southern region of Dune where the women, children, wounded, and old men remain during battle, and took Alia prisoner. Alia was brought before the Emperor where she revealed her identity along with the identity of her brother. When her brother attacked Arrikeen, she killed her grandfather, the Baron Harkonnen, then went out into the battle and killed enemy wounded and marked them for the water-recovery teams.

Duke Leto Atreides: b. 10,140 d. 10,191. Also known as The Red Duke and Leto the Just, he was the patriarch of the Great House of Atreides, father of Paul "Muad'dib" and Lady Alia, by his concubine the Lady Jessica. For twenty generations the Atreides ruled over the planet Caladan. At the age of 51 he was forced by his distaff cousin, the Emperor Shaddam Corrino, to leave Caladan and rule over the planet Arrakis, replacing his enemy the Baron Harkonnen. This same year he was betrayed by House Corrino and House Harkonnen. Dr. Wellington Yeuh, the Duke's personal Suk doctor, drugged Leto and equipped him with a poison tooth with which to kill the Baron Harkonnen. The Duke died by biting down on the tooth and exhaling a gas which killed the Baron's mentat, Piter de Vires, and his guard captain, Umman Kudu. The Baron escaped. The Duke's remains were found in a pyre and his skull was taken and enshrined in Harg Pass in the "Skull Tomb."

He moved to Arrakis with his father by the Emperor's command. The boy had been trained in fighting by Gurney Hallack, Thufir Hawat, Duncan Idaho, and his mother, general studies were taught by Dr. Yeuh and his mother. His mother also trained him as a Bene Gesserit and Hawat trained him to become a mentat without the boy's knowledge. Almost from the moment he arrived on Arrakis, the Fremen have believed him to be their savior, an offworlder born to a Bene Gesserit who will led them to true freedom. He survived an assassination attempt in his home in Arrakeen. On the night of the joint Harkonnen Corrino attack he was drugged by Dr. Yeuh and taken into the desert to die with his mother. Yet, Dr. Yeuh prepared the 'thopter the Harkonnens used in the hopes they would survive. Duncan Idaho found them in the desert where they had landed and killed both Harkonnen pilots. Idaho and Keynes took them to a botanical testing station where Paul won the loyalty of Kynes. Within minutes of this Kynes was captured and Idaho was killed. Paul and his mother fled the Sardaukar attack of the station in a 'thopter and was lost in a sand storm. After landing their 'thopter, Paul and Jessica fled into the desert to find the Fremen and sanctuary among them. A troop found them in Tuono basin and accepted them into their tribe. On the troop's way back to Sietch Tabr, Jamis challenged Paul to single combat. Paul killed Jamis and claimed his water. When they returned to the Sietch, Paul was given Jamis home and his wife to care for. Paul accepted Jamis' wife, Harah, as a servant and cared for her two sons Kaleff and Orlop. Paul had fallen in love with Chani, the daughter of Liet Kynes and niece of the troop leader Stilgar. In the next two years, Paul trained the Fremen in the Atreides fighting style and led them in the war against the Harkonnens. He and Chani had a son, Leto II. On his first sand ride on a sandworm, Paul found his old friend Gurney Hallack in a group of smugglers. In a storage area of the Cave of Birds, Paul took the water of life and finally became the Kwisatz Haderach. After two years of disrupting Spice harvesting, the Emperor arrived to bring Spice harvesting back under control. In the Residency of Arrakeen, Paul killed Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen in a knife fight. Afterward he married Irulan, the eldest daughter of the Padishah Emperor Shaddam Corrino to claim the Imperial Throne, and made Chani his official bound concubine, swearing never to take Irulan into his bed. His son was killed during an attack on a southern sietch by Sardaukar.

Lesser sisters and many Reverend Mothers are to breed with particular men for their breeding programs. These sisters are often sent out as concubines and servants for breeding and information gathering. Reverend Mothers have access to the lives of all of their female ancestors. The Fremen learned to ride the sandworms. They have a different sense of honor, an insular society that do not trust outsiders. He felt certain that the Lady Jessica had betrayed them and swore vengeance. He believed his House was dead and remained with the smugglers for two years. Two years after he joined the smugglers, they were surprised by a group of Fremen led by Paul Muad'dib. He was reunited with his Duke. When he met Jessica he would have killed her, but Paul and Jessica were able to convince him that it was Yeuh who had betrayed them. He re-swore his loyalty to the Atreides. He fought along side his Duke in the Battle of Arrakeen.

She disobeyed her Bene Gesserit superiors and fell in love with Duke Leto and bore him a son rather than the daughter they required for the Kwisatz Haderach program. The Harkonnens, knowing how much the Duke loved his concubine, sowed suspicion against her to hide the real traitor Dr. Yeuh.
